My father Joe Murat was a great influence in my life. I have always had a wonderful connection to this kind, ambitious, intelligent, and loving man, who taught me to follow my passion, and to think outside the box. Although his passing in 2011 was devastating, and difficult to overcome, I have since felt his presence and guidance in every twist and turn of the Fiji Joe Turmeric story!

A few years ago I was introduced to Joe Taoi, owner of Freight Services International in Suva. Joe and I had an immediate connection. He explained that he had previously been growing ginger on his family’s land, but would love to grow turmeric for me and thus began our partnership. Joe was instrumental in building our certified organic processing facility, and his guidance and input are invaluable.

The similarities between Joe and my father struck me as remarkable from the beginning. Both the youngest of eleven, difficult early life, started their own businesses, and looking after family members. They have the same caring approach towards others and I have often said to Joe, “you know my father sent you”. To which he replies, “Oh shut up”. This has been an amazing friendship and partnership, the core of which is mutual respect and the desire to help others.

I didn’t meet the “real” Fiji Joe until long after the company was named after my dad, although I can say truthfully that Fiji Joe Turmeric is named after TWO great men!

My greatest wish from your purchase of our product is that you benefit from and enjoy this very special turmeric.
